About

Iā€™m half-Dutch and half-German, which is great unless there is a World Cup.

I occasionally reach out to wider audiences via public lectures, workshops, and articles in encyclopedias, newspapers, and blogs. I also run the yearly Philosophers Against Malaria fundraising competition, which has raised roughly $40.000 so far.

Besides philosophy, I am passionate about pen-and-paper games, charity evaluation, and soccer.

My research is generously funded by fellowships from the Rackham Graduate School, the Weinberg Institute for Cognitive Science, the Mercatus Center, and the Institute for Humane Studies.
